Biography:
Jane Morrow is an independent curator with a specific interest in artist development. She has held curatorial and artist development roles for a number of galleries and initiatives, including Firstsite, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, The New Art Gallery Walsall, Mead Gallery, Turning Point West Midlands and Ikon Gallery. Jane is interested in working across gallery, studio and network contexts around formal and informal learning environments for artists. She has originated numerous exhibitions, commissions, offsite projects, symposia, publications, residencies and bespoke development programmes for individuals and groups. Jane is experienced in working with artists working regionally and nationally at all stages of their careers.
As of 2016, Jane is establishing an independent curatorial and writing practice following almost a decade working within galleries with a regional/ national/ international remit and cultural or educational institutions. Jane’s independent specialisms are in visual arts infrastructure, networks, artist professional development, fundraising and opportunities generation. Freelance commitments have included work with Visual Artists Ireland, Belfast Open Studios, London Sculpture Workshop, leading a series of professional development events and delivering lectures throughout the UK.
This website will continue to develop, hosting further examples of projects and critical writing in the near future. Jane is also putting together details of forthcoming projects and 1-to-1 mentoring/ support programmes for visual artists and organisations.
